Introducing TylerTillerson.com
You read that right! A new website is up and ready to go! TylerTillerson.com will be the new, permanent home of all my writings. It will also be the place to communicate with me. Of course, Patrons will be asking, “What about Patreon?”
Story Tiller on Patreon was, initially, designed as a launchpad and basic funding platform. Its community was (and still is) small, and the subscription model was originally designed around selling short stories. Fact is, I don’t think that model is sustainable and, more importantly, I don’t want to gate content from readers known and unknown.
To that end, there’s a couple of very important things to know about TylerTillerson.com and its subscription:
- Subscribing to THE DIRT (on TylerTillerson.com) is completely free. You will enter your email and…that’s it! Much like Patreon, anytime a post is made on the website, you will get an email notification for it featuring that post. You will no longer need a separate app (like Patreon) to enjoy the content.
- All content is free. Yup, all of it. Every single issue of THE DIRT, every short story (even from The Wildlands), every chapter preview…all of it is FREE. A lot of content will be gated behind subscription, but again, subscribing is free.
Cool! What happens to Story Tiller on Patreon?
Story Tiller on Patreon isn’t going anywhere, but its content is going to dramatically shift. Initially, it will be nearly empty – afterall, all the usual content is going to the website and is, well, free. My intention is to evolve Story Tiller on Patreon into an intimate ‘backers’ community: people who know me personally and wish to financially support my work beyond buying my book(s) and products. I expect it to be fairly small for a long time.
To that end, my strategy for Patreon needs a refresh: I want backers to receive meaningful content, swag, or personal encounters that won’t be available to subscribers over on the website. The current tiers of subscription won’t change in price: $1, $5, and $20 a month.
If you want to cancel your subscription, I completely understand. As I already said, my Patreon is shifting into a new stage, and it will take time to rework it into the vision I have. How long? I honestly don’t know, but I’m hoping to have meaningful ‘stuff’ for backers before the end of Q1 2025.
If you choose to remain a patron, thank you, really! It’s a big deal to have folks willing to go above and beyond to support my writing. Signed copies are neat, but I really do want to bring cooler things to this very special group of people.
Over the course of November, all posts on Patreon will be made free to members (people who have signed up to Patreon) to bring it in alignment with the website.
If you are NEW to this website or my Patreon, you do not need to sign up for both! From this point forward, only subscribers on the website will be able to access content on the website. No new content will be arriving on Patreon until at least Q1 of 2025. A special post for Patreon will be made when that happens to introduce the community to its new design.
